The Borax Jewelers Cone has been manufactured Midlands area of the United Kingdom
for over one hundred years and is made today from the original formulation.
It is
extensively used throughout the UK and is exported to many Jewellery manufacturing
areas of the world. The Birmingham Jewellery
College continues to teach the art of Jewellery making using the cones as it has done over the years. A borax "slate", originally a Welsh slate and now a purpose made abrasive dish, is used and into which a small amount of water is added. The cone is then rubbed in a circular motion until a paste is formed. This paste is then used as the flux for soldering in the normal way.
Borax cones are manufactured at the premises of Hallett Oils and are therefore available through Hallett Oils. Please contact us for a quote as prices vary with quantities ordered.
